Safari in South Africa, or Sunbathing in Spain – You Decide

There are many holidays I have enjoyed from soaking up the sun in Spain, walking the mountains in Wales or braving the roller coasters in America.

However, I still have a few different experiences I would love to try. One of them would be trying my hand at the fruit machines in Las Vegas. One of my friends has just returned from there and so far I can’t get her to stop talking about it as she enjoyed it so much. You really can gamble 24 hours a day. She said she lost quite a lot of money, but had set herself a daily limit, so didn’t really mind too much as she really enjoyed the whole thrill of the place.

Another experience I would love to try is going on a safari.

Safaris are meant to be absolutely fabulous. On a recent visit to Orlando, I was fortunate to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and I got a little insight into what a safari holiday might be like. However, as with everything in Disney it is all controlled and you know that the animals can’t get that close to you. It must be such an experience to be on a real safari and be within a whiskers touch of a lion. I can imagine the feeling must be absolutely invigorating.

Holidays to South Africa are certainly gaining in popularity and are a great holiday choice.

In all honesty though, keen as I am to book a safari holiday, one thing that really puts me off is all those spiders. I honestly can’t stand the things. They absolutely petrify me.It’s so silly when you look at their size to mine. I think it’s the fact that they can move so fast on those big fat hairy legs. Unfortunately my fear has rubbed off on both my children and many a time my husband has had to get up in the middle of the night to get rid of spiders from bedrooms.

A little word of warning though, whatever you do DO NOT vacuum up a spider into a paper hoover bag. My husband’s mum did this once and a little while later she couldn’t figure out why the hoover bag was moving around. The spider had decided the hoover bag was as good a place as any to have her babies, so there were hundreds of spiders. It was absolutely hilarious and an experience never repeated.

Now if somebody could guarantee me a safari without spiders, I would be there like a shot. If not, then I am somehow going to have to overcome my fear. How strange that a huge creature like a lion doesn’t phase me at all, just a tidily little spider!!
